Very helpful friendly staff and nice feel to the hotel.
> Though the single bedroom was
small as to be expected the bathroom was generous and the bath great.
The actual bed was Terrible.
Overall though it was in a good location and the staff really make the difference in this place.

Fantastic hotel - staff always helpful, and as most reviews already posted confirm, nothing seems too much trouble.
Would certainly recommend the 2 or 3 course carvery in the Old Masters Restaurant (5.30 - 7.30 daily) at £15.50/£19.50 it is exceptional value - food is wonderful and service first class (Non residents can have this pre-theatre offer also) To have this sort of luxury at such a small price is amazing - my tip is to take your coffee in the lounge and just enjoy the pianist and atmosphere !! House wine was £17 a bottle and very very good. Certainly beats any other London restaurant on all counts.

Highly recommended, the staff is top rate, the decor exquisit, and the upkeep fine. I was surprised to be upgraded to two of the 'royal suites, an impressive layout of multiple rooms and baths. The afternoon tea is a must do. If the Buckingham Palace area is where you want to be, this is the place to stay - skip the 'major' hotels on this one - This is the real deal!

Our stay at the Rubens was most pleasant and the Christmas decorations were beautiful Although the rooms are too small for 2 people the decor was lovely and the staff most attentive. Having Buckingham Palace across the street was great as we were able to see the royals as the procession paraded to the opening of parliment.

I loved the setting, my comfortable and beautifully maintanied small room and very clean bathroom. Enjoyed the availabity of tea/coffee etc. Overall very helpful staff. Unfortunately had two bad experiences (1) tried to settle my account with travellers cheques (in sterling) they were refused after soem debate about signature - since been cashed by bank who expressed amamzement aout the refusal, (2) one very noisy night with disco music so loud that sleep was out of the question - my last night at the Rubens - so began a 28 hour journey the next morning having had no rest. Fire alarm also went that night!

We've really enjoyed our - though short - stay at the Rubens. Efficient service, clean and cosy room, beautiful Xmas decorations of the lounge and restaurant, superb location. Will certainly return to this hotel whenever in London.

Just arrived home from a short break at the Rubens - wedding anniversary celebration - and we'll definitely be returning. Two small hitches (mistakes made with room service breakfast orders) were quickly rectified and definitely did NOT take the shine off the stay - comfortable room, great staff, good location - at a sensible price. One of our best stays in a London Hotel.

I have posted rave reviews on this gem of a hotel on numerous web travel sites, as well as here on Trip Advisor. Just reading the comments above brought such pleasant and delightful memories that I am prompted to write again. We were back at The Rubens only a few months ago, in July. As the others attest, Nathan was great and a real charmer. The breakfasts are sumptuous and we always look forward to them. We had our same room this year, thanks to Estelle, who also was so helpful and always ready to assist. I can't say enough good things about this hotel, which is our home away from home while in London. Most probably we will return to London in April and look forward to staying at that wonderful grand dame of a hotel, The Rubens at the Palace.
We recommend this hotel to all of our friends going to London - it is truely a superb, well-managed, and beautiful facility.

As soon as I entered the hotel, I was exuberantly greeted by our consierge, Dave. He was very warm and incredibly attentive to every need. The service was excellent. The hotel lounge is beautiful. Nathan, the doorman, was absolutely charming, as was the rest of the staff. I would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in London, and I would certainly return.

Our stay at the Rubens proved excellent value for money, benefitting as we did from last minute rates which included a sumptuous full English breakfast. Short walk to Westminster Abbey, Victoria Station, and Buckingham Palace. Service was truly outstanding, with informed concierge and doorman (Nathan). Room was a bit on the small side, but of high quality and cleanliness, with complimentary tea, coffee, and sweets! Hopefully management of this quality chain will remedy noisy chamber maids early in the morning. Would definitely return to this establishment.
